Andrina - Can you have Sunbutter instead of seeds? Or, if you're trying to avoid sugar, can you make your own? There are recipes for homemade sunflower seed butter on the internet. If you're still in a flare, seeds are too hard to digest unless you're
really chewing them until they're total mush (which is not easy when you're eating a lot of them).
I'm assuming you're eating cooked spinach, but are you eating it with something to buffer your stomach like bread or some other soluble fiber? It really does help to do that. And, as with the seeds, you have to make sure to really chew the spinach.
Regarding the pain, I don't really remember when mine stopped. Even if you're not bleeding, the healing process will still take some time. Just make sure to be gentle to your colon and not overeat or eat trigger foods or drink coffee or alcohol until you're symptom-free for quite a while. It's definitely a process. Even after I got into remission, it was still several months before I could eat whole grains or raw veggies without discomfort. Although this is an effective treatment, it's a slow one.
