I did 13 days back in 1991 when i was 14. I got discharged on Christmas eve and was allowed home for Christmas and boxing day. Had to come back in on the 27th for a couple of days for a barium enema, before the days of Colonoscopies.

Canadagal, that is a huge bummer. I wish you the best and am sending lots of positive energy to that Remicade to get a move on!

yes 40 days, TPN, blood transfusions, the whole 9 yards. Wasn't sure I'd make it out alive, but I did. : )

wow beatUC - you can gladly keep the record :)
Day 16 for me right now and I'm shifting from the patient compliant patient to the frustrated and more assertive patient...
unless I'm dying or in danger... let me out of here... give the drugs time to work... yes flaring sucks but i don't feel like I'm anywhere near surgery.. not mentally nor physically....
this lets see what tomorrow approach is not giving us anything... life must go on.

2 one-week stays, followed by 4 days, and 3 days, and then 3 more days... But I was pregnant and getting blood transfusions - maybe they were being cautious.

I have been in the hospital twice since 2007. The very first visit was for one month, but that was also neglect on my part, and the doctors not knowing what was causing the problems. Which was UC. I was on morphene, prednisone and asacol 800. The second flare two years later I was in the hospital for one week. Same meds. In both cases I was very sick. As much as I HATE Prednisone. It worked.

2 hospital stays for flares, once for 21 days and another for 23 days. both were for Cyclosporine. Total 44 days. For my last uncontrollable flare they offered me Cyclosporine again, I said no thank you...If I am going into the hospital it is for surgery.
I could add some days on to the total due to surgery for a J-pouch. 6 days for the 1-step and I have step 2 coming up in a few weeks.
As crazy as it sounds the hospital stay for surgery was much easier than the UC flares....probably the flares were more painful too. Recovery was just as long for surgery and the flares.

4 days on first stay, was discharged (which later my doctor told me I shouldn't have been), then less then 2 weeks later was back in there for 13 straight days.

4 weeks for my son - tried everything during that time - eventually iv ciclosporin and iv steroids calmed everything down. Was back in hospital 4 months later when the ciclosporin made him ill and the azathiapriin had kicked in but wasn't enough. This time remicade saved him but only worked for a few months.... UC can be so nasty.

9 days, 8 nights total. Was suffering in silence for about
3 weeks prior and didn't reach remission after the hospital for 4-5 weeks after. The first week home I was almost readmitted as I was not improving. I turned a corner when they finally got me the right combo of meds. I was given incorrect discharge instructions by the resident doctors on my floor, not my GI Specialist.
