PLEASE HELP ME- SHOULD I GO TO HOSPITAL??

I have been flaring for the past two weeks. Woke up with a lot of mucous. There was bright red blood on the toilet paper and in the toilet that I have not seen in a long time that I took pictures of it for the doctor. I am in pain. I don't know if I should go to the hospital or wait until 9am to call my doctor. I am on Humira and Uceris and nothing seems to be working!!!! I am not eating the best but I keep missing work (I am a 6th grade teacher) and with the end of the school year coming in 6 weeks, I don't have time to be sick. What should I do? I am afraid the hospital will just have me take a cat scan and give me fluids and that's it. I know what the problem is. What should I do? Sorry I am really desperate and in pain.

If you're in that much pain then go to the ER. Only you know when the pain is too much.

If you are in any kind of severe pain, go to the hospital. If not, you are probably ok to wait and get in to see your doctor today.

If you are in such pain that you feel is severe then you should get some help. Hope you feel better soon..

Thank you...I am waiting for my mother to get me to go to the hospital. I feel weak and dehydrated. I called my GI doctor and told him my symptoms. I asked him if I should go to the hospital. He said yes because having chills and feeling weak is not common with Ulcerative Colitis. Is he serious??? It's on the list of symptoms on so many websites!

sunflowers, I am sorry you're feeling so terrible. I hope you are able to get this flare to subside with this trip to the hospital.

I had chills and weakness, but I wasn't diagnosed yet, nor have medication. I have pancolitis. BUT it doesn't mean you do. Your body is fighting, thus the fever. I would go to the hospital.

How long have you been on Humira? Are you on any rectal meds?

Sounds like when i got c diff from humira. I was so weak that i fainted on the toilet. I had a bad fever and chills with a constant pain in my left side. Definitely demand stool tests.

I had the chills/fevers when I got to the point that I needed IV steroids...it does happen but it generally means you are having a bad flare. I hope you went to the hospital and are doing better.

Good luck to you. I know how confusing it can be and to think to go or not to go when the pain is severe. Hope all turned out well since 5/9 for you.
