Sodium Butyrate Eaters.. how's it going?

The thing about the article that I think is pertinent was the downward trend in transit time.. Who knows what the transit time would have been in remission..

Far be it for me to stand between a man and his peeps. Your marshmellow supplement is almost as good as garyfromlouisville's (I think) peanut butter pie diet. :)

Im jealous of your 24 hour transit time, it took me a longtime to get near there!

Little buddy try psyllium seed powder..It is much gentler and is nothing like the psyllium husk you get in metamucil. The powder is the seed made into a fine powder and the husk is the outer shell of the spyllium seed which is much more fiberous and more rough per say. Just a suggestion.

Ps. It smells like a mix of sweaty feet, Parmesan cheese and coconut oil. You were warned.

I didnt use a mold, just plopped it in the middle of the wax paper and rolled it up like a doobie ;)

I use that bodybio butyrate from amazon. It was the only Sodium Butyrate I found.

I went ahead and cut the one I made in half and used one. It didnt burn or anything, seemed to all work out.. someone with actual inflammation will have to report on it's effectiveness.

I tried this Sodium Butyrate when (I think) Old Mike posted about it. Same brand BodyBio (still in the cabinet-full bottle almost) but it gave me increased BM's and gas. I would consider trying it out as a suppos., just have to find the time to make them.

I have a miserable history with almost any supplement and unwilling to spend a week with worse symptoms seeing if it works itself into the positive. Too afraid to lose my remission but always looking to improve my current symptoms which are IBS-type.

I had significant gas and bloating the first 2-3 days of Sodium Butyrate (I was only taking 3 tabs a day). I considered stopping but read somewhere that gas and bloating were common for a very short time then your body adapts. I now take 6 tabs a day with NO issues. I never have increased BM's, rather, I had increased size BM's.

Yes, that's possible. I'm sure I have some inflammation, a year ago there was some smaller amount showing on c-scope and if I eat the wrong thing there is blood but not much. I then stop eating the wrong thing

IBS-D or C don't describe it. No D, rather my colon just cranks out multiple BM's expelling what it dislikes, this happens the next morning generally. The list of dislikes is a moving target. Some weeks shrimp/fish is OK but lately all fish and shellfish is not OK. My gut is a prima donna.

I dont typically add multiple things in to my supplement list at the same time. I like to know what is doing what.

However, I wanted to make sure sodium butyrate wasnt going to cause any issues on the tissues of the rectum. So I did the first suppository 2 days ago. I also started taking alot of specifically yeast killing Herbs 2 days prior to that. So, Im more inclined to think they are the cause, but...

after inserting the suppository I had some gas bubbling in my descending colon and sigmoid. I dont have alot of bubbles lately so that was odd. 6 hours later I went to the bathroom and only passed what I think might be candida or that saphrophytic fungi that we know I have an issue with. It was white/offwhite and fluffy, like a jagged piece of cloud, for lack of better description. I do not believe it was mucus. Several months ago to resolve constipation, I did a series of enemas and passed something that was white and I thought could be a ball of decomposing worms. (I had a live blood analysis where the lady had said worms so I was conditioned to that being a possibility-which obviously freaked me out) my dr said it could have been tissue, food, or yeast. He didnt think worms and mys tool test came back with no worms. I didnt think I had a yeast problem then because Ive never had a yeast infection, and I had done a bunch of candida killing stuff prior with no results at all so I figured it was just tissue.

Well, this looked so weird, it was fluffy, not stringy or globby.. so I thought maybe it was some of the suppository (however, there is NO way coconut oil would have stayed solid like that for 6 hours) and went about my day. The next morning, I passed alot more stuff like that then normal stool. Since there was so much more of it I decided to look up what yeast in stool looks like and several of the pics are really really close to what I saw. I was also feeling better yesterday in general. Went on a 5 mile hike, which I havent done in months because Ive been so tired and joint achey.

Decided since I had another suppository Id do it again last night and same results this am. formed stool, but proceeded, broken up and followed by gas pockets of this white fluffy, floaty stuff.

My doctor did tell me that Berberine and butyrate were a yeast killing powerhouse.. I did some searches and found that butyrate interferes with the ability of yeast to use their tentacles to anchor into things... so I think Im going to try doing an enema with it.

Im not going to do anything with the butyrate nonorally for 3 days to see if the supplements are the cause.. and then Ill try the enema and see what happens. I really feel like this yeast(Im not sure what kind of yeast) is the last thing keeping me from 100% healing.

Again, is probably the Pao D'Arco, Berberine and Black walnut. (but Ive taken those all before and bupkus happened)

I did a couple enemas, and it seemed to help. Then I decided to take it orally only, I was ok, but then started flaring up this past week (may be correlated to adding spinach and sunflower seed butter though). So not really sure at this point. Definitely wasn't my magical cure-all at any rate! One thing I did notice is I stopped having to pee at night while taking it! And this is something that hasn't happened to me for YEARS since I was a kid. I stopped taking it two days ago and am waking to pee again. I may start again next week again to give it another shot, and won't attempt the sunflower/spinach thing again. Although I think th spinach heps but the sfb hurts. I have a colonoscpy on Wednesday to remove polyps they found during my sigmoidoscopy a couple weeks ago, I think I will start up again with the butyrate after it. I am trying to look at the colonoscopy "prep" as a way to start fresh with a nice clean bowel. Think positive right?

How important is it to use *sodium* butyrate vs. calcium butyrate? I accidentally bought this one from Amazon.
