Why no marijuana discussion?

It upsets me that such a big forum with so many readers and members can just exclude such a major debate topic as medical marijuana. Is this website run by the government? Will the government shut it down for even discussing medical marijuana? How can you people, suffering from the same horrendous disease as UC, stand behind such a ridiculous rule as to disallow discussion about a potential medicine for said disease?

What is the point of that rule? Would you rather have people have surgery to remove their colon instead of trying marijuana as a last resort? Is MM worse in some people's opinion than having your entire darn colon taken out? There are even some states in which you can have marijuana prescribed for UC!?

I really, really want an answer as to why this rule exists. It disappoints me greatly, and makes me trust the moderators and whoever runs this website less. What you're doing is limiting freedom of speech and whoever is behind this should be ashamed.

Email the admin if you want an answer. It's not the moderators' decision, so bashing them isn't at all fair.

Yes, I thought so. I tried to add the "whoever is behind this" so as to not target anyone unfairly. But seeing as the moderators are the actual enforcers, I guess they deserve at least a liiiittle weensie bashing as well.

how bout start your own forum - you can talk about pink fairies or rock mating or dillweed smoking -

we have lots of freedoms here - including the one that allows you to leave anytime :-)

What a very rude and extremely uneducated comment...

I am simply saying that I think it is a disgrace that there is absolutely no discussion allowed. If people don't want to discuss it, that's fine, but people who want to should be able to. I like this forum. It has a lot of nice people, as I have noticed, and it's very active. Starting my own forum would take years of time I don't have in learning to program, etc.

The one thing I don't like about this forum (so far) is that one rule, and I'm questioning it. By your logic, you would have to tell people who want change something in their country: "Well, move to another country!" No... I like it here, and I plan on staying, however I'm questioning this one thing, and you're making fun of me for it. Just throwing marijuana out the window because it is an illicit drug (in some states, but that is changing quickly, my friend). Comparing it to fairies and rock mating. Is this really how you look at people who talk about medical marijuana? You can't hate people or be disrespectful to them for thinking differently. What good will that ever do to society?

Telling me to leave because I am questioning one rule? I hope you had a bad morning or something...

Yeah, not so much.  It take a lot of time to be a moderator on such a busy forum (I used to be one, so I really do know) and it's annoying as hell to break up virtual fights between grown adults.  So they don't deserve any bashing, because w/o them, we probably wouldn't have this forum.

I am in favor of all types of treatments for this disease including medical marijuana.

I think there should be talks about it on the forum, however this can create a big problem. People can start talking where you can aquire this illegally from street corners and who knows what kind of marijuana that is. You'd have to really police these topics with a fine comb.

Montel Williams is for MM and takes it for his MS and has talked about it numerous times on his show.

An easy solution would be to just let people report those posts, the ones talking about illegal activity, and then have the mods remove them, instead of just removing everything related to marijuana. That must be a much bigger hassle than the hypothetical work involved in deleting the comments concerning illegal supplies, etc. Seeing as it is in fact a legal medicine in many states, it saddens me that there is no discussion allowed about it.

With that mentality, nothing would ever change anywhere, and we'd be stuck chucking spears at boars and making cave-drawings.
However, even if this is your opinion: what need is there to be rude about it? Aren't we all in this together?

Your best solution is to send an email to the admin. He might change his mind one of these days. Rules change all time.

I think it is a silly forum prohibition too, especially since its regulated medical use is legal in so many U.S. states now (and many countries), but as the moderators have stated, it is a privately owned forum so that's the owner's prerogative, take it or leave it. Perhaps more of us should email the forum owner to state our opinion and maybe he will relent one day, but it's up to him, nt the moderators.

As far as I know, there was a time when it was an allowed conversation on HW and it became a problem because people were starting MANY conversations about it and none of them were supportive. I am in no way against it but I realize the admin has been here longer and has his reasons. This has been discussed on various forums and it has been brought up with the site admin directly a number of times. We have all put in our two cents and the rule stands.

This is a private forum, so freedom of speech does not apply. I have good reasons for the rule that is in place now. I have considered changing it, but won't be bullied into it.
