Hi All,
This is my first post.
I am an Indian, a software pro, in my late 20's.
The last two months have changed my life in a dramatic way.
It all started in April 2nd week, with usual stomach upset.
After 10 days I had my first bloody stool..
And things changed after that.
Normal bug treatment to start with, then treatment for IBS by my physician(not a GI, but a stomach specialist).
(VSL3, Mebervine HCL-antispasmo)
In May 1st week, God blessed us with a baby boy.
(on the same day I had rejoined office after 2 weeks at home, and had to rush back home,
which happens to be 150 Kms, I do weekends at home, and weekdays at a rented facility - alone)
By then the symptoms were under control - No idea about UC, just collitis or IBS.
The exertion resulted in more frequent bowel movements with traces of bright red blood and mucus.
During this phase, there were days when I had no distress at all.
And there were stays, when i would lose my confidence after seeing the red thing.
Finally the doc suggested to go for sigmoidscopy.
Since my wife had a c-sec, first priority was her.
And it was only on May-16 that I managed to go for the test.
That was the day, when my face looked a little pale and yes fatigued.
Impression: Gr. IV Collitis, ?IBD
I knew it was collitis all along, but what was the extent and type??
Yes there were discrete ulcers, the rectum looked inflammed and reddish.
Biopsy was taken.
Then started the long wait at home for the biopsy report.
Meanwhile, I had exhausted the net searching and reading whatever i could find on UC and alike.
Treatement:
Ballacol(Balasalzide), a pre-pro biotic, Germacef for 5 days.
My stool took some really usnusal colors in first 5 days.
Blood was again in Traces, and i could notice the pus as well.
Being an Indian, It is hard to follow the SCD, wheat is our staple diet.
But I did my best to eliminate all dairy, fats, sugar, spices out of the system.
Prior to my sypmtoms, I was very active with an hour of brisk walking and cycling.
with no fat and reduced diet, my weight has only come down to 86 Kgs from 89(in March).
I dont know whether it can be categorized as weight loss, coz I was already doing physical stuff.
And no fat and reduced diet will only bring down the xtra tummy fat.
May 29 Biopsy came -
Impression: Ruled out IBD syaing -'No suggestion of IBD' - ?Infective
Also said there was some mild infiltration of cells on mucousa and some congestion.
So what disease did I have???
I get stomach cramps, but the pain is mild to negligible.
No fever, general weakness- still quite active.
No Nausea, headaches
I get blood that is in traces, but sometimes its more.
My stool frequency has come down from 7 to 2-4.
Sometimes I feel fatigued, but next day it gets better.
Another thing -
Diet....
Only thing that really seems to have worsening the flare is - a heavier diet.
Eating less, I have noticed, whatever i eat, even the restricted items, I feel ok.
But I must confess, My apetite is the same as ever.
And the extra couple of wheat chapatis(Rotis) just seem to destablize.
I am the only earning guy in my family.
My father has had 2 Heart-Valve replacement surgeries,
My mother has arthirtis, now I have an added resposibilties of my new born son and wife.
I am really stressed out, its been 45 days at home, I am planning to go to office day after.
But have some tough decisions to make.
How I will manage to get the home made food over in the other city.... or should i think of shfting the entire family
in near future.
Money is an issue....
I already have chronic scalp folliculitis since 15 years and BP of the range of 90+/140+ with 90+BPM.
I have been taking aloe vera juice in the morning, also tried raw papaya(cured my relative completely).
I am thinking of Dr. Harish Verma treatment from New Delhi(Ulcerin 1 and 2).
But i havent found a solid proof of patients benefiting from Ulcerin and 2.
I am bit restless, to be honest my real colitis treatemet had been under way for just over
2 weeks only, and I am hapless to get relief.
But what has really put me in confusion is the biopsy - which rules out IBD......
I dont want to go for Sigmoscopy again for another biopsy.
Just looking forward to some better days and giving my best at the Job.
Hope to have some well needed support over here and find someone who had initial symptoms like mine.
