Good morning all:)

I think my intro post is right below this one but I was curious if anyone has somewhat random dizzy spells. I'm only doing the mesalamine enemas, no other meds. I'm at what I believe (hope) is the tail end of a flair and I'm always exhausted (which I've gotten used to). I'm also getting dizzy spells, once or twice a day for no particular reason. I could just be sitting and I get dizzy. Very possible that this has nothing to do with UC at all and maybe I'm just not eating enough, who knows. I think I am though.

Get your blood pressure checked. Hypertension is supposed to be a symptomless disease but some people have dizzy spells and ringing in their ears among other things when their blood pressure is up.

Hi,

When was the last time you had your bloods done + blood ressure taken ?

Also are you taking vitamin supplements ? It is always important to supplement..

I visit my General GP once a month to just keep bloods in check + check blood pressure.

Are you drinking lots of water ? Very important, i usually have a Gatorade followed by a few Ltrs water daily.

I get that on occasion. For me it really means I need to get my eating back up and drink more. Skipping a meal or not drinking just slightly not enough makes me fragile. For me it's more likely to happen when driving. After my UC flare started it seems I get motion sickness 50x easier. I miss playing my first person shooter games for hours - but maybe its for the best I can't anymore. Even with these symptoms my blood pressure and everything always checks out to be completely normal. The only things that typically are off with me is my electrolytes and on rare occasion very mildly anemic. Your primary care doctor can check this kind of stuff for you very easily. You'll want to tell your doctor what you're experiencing because my Primary Care doctor used to only do CBC tests (white blood cell counts) until I gave him enough excuse to test for electrolytes and he even checked my bone density which was slightly less than normal. It's good to know this because if I do have some bone issues later on there was a test done to create a base-line.

Thanks for the responses. I had my blood pressure checked last month while I was at the doctor, it was fine and I've never had blood pressure issues. I'll make an appt. with my PC though and mention it to my gastro next month at my next appt. Thanks again for your replies:)

It really is all about water intake. Your UC is in your colon which main purpose is to extract water when digesting. Since that is not properly function, drinking lots of water is EXTREMELY important. Just make sure you stay hydrated, and hopefully you will notice a difference in how you feel. Sorry about your dizzy spells.

Thanks fightingeveryday17, I've been working on increasing my water intake and I usually do pretty good. Far better when I'm at work and sitting at my desk it seems. Thanks for the response!

Do your dizzy spells happen when you stand up? Or is there no pattern? Could be hypotension, could be dehydration, could be vertigo.

Another question: Do you have allergies? When mine get really bad I feel dizzy/cloudy due to sinus pressure and swelling in the ear canals.

Malkavian, there doesn't seem to be any pattern at all. Sometimes it happens first thing in the morning when I'm still laying in bed. Other times when I'm sitting at my desk. Seems to be fairly random. Thanks for the response!

I would get your blood checked to see if you are anemic.
