OT - For the Car Guys (and Women)

Yes, squirrels! They have a very efficient and world-wide "hot line" to inform them of the goodies under the hood.

My 2000 VW Golf had the about a 20 inch round from the hood insulation systematically stolen...little freak.

My idea was to purchase a new liner, PLUS cover that with steel window screen (with holes punched where the clips/plugs were. Worked like a charm. The little beast continued to go under the hood (little footie prints told us so...and we could hear him swearing every time he/she couldn't gain access to the insulation.

One day my husband was driving his truck and could smell something weird burning from the engine. He stopped and checked under the hood and saw an area packed FULL of grass clippings. I'm sure it was to get us back. So every so often it had to be cleared of the grass.

A client friend of mine kept feeding her yard squirrel peanuts in the shell. She eventually discovered he stored them in her Ford Explorer, gaining access to some area in there through the air intake. That area held about 2 litres of peanuts....hot and on wheels!

Tornado6- we'll see if we can get the neighborhood fox to pee on her tires.

Soystud- not sure about ninja pythons.

Also learned about Fresh Cab repellent products. Safe, earth-friendly, etc. One of my cousins used it to keep mice out of her summer place during the winter.

A large snake crawled into my parents car that they used every day & garaged, and it lived there awhile..didn't realize why our dog stayed under there "hunting" for something all the time until we saw it crawl back up in there one day...sorry no advice, just a story!
