I'm feeling better these days on my current regimen.
However, around the time I started taking Tumeric/Curcumin, I started having itchy butt syndrome! Not just my anus, but a good portion of my crack! So, I've been using a hemorrhoid anti-itch cream, but it just comes back the next day.
Does anyone else that takes Tumeric have this symptom? Might it be related?

never had itchy butt from tumeric - give it a rest for a week and see what happens -
then again, it's nice to have an excuse for scratching your butt other than just because that's what men do

Hate to be the one to ask this, but are you wiping well enough?

Ha! Yes, I certainly think so! Years of experience!
I've been working out a lot lately, so maybe it's related to sweat. Another lovely thought! Lol

I also took turmeric and did not have an itchy butt but I did have thin blood. It made me bruise at the slightest touch.

Possibly candida? Mine always seems to get unbearably itchy before bleeding returns.

So, is there an OTC antifungal ointment that works on candida?
I have been taking a 4.5mg pill of LDN for a little over a year. Thought it got me out of a flare that winter, but then had another minor flare this spring.

Eph,
I had the same LDN experience. Started taking it in Feb 2012 as I was starting to come out of a flare, then flared again two months ago in April. I still take it though, seems to keep me from getting sick beyond the uc.

I notice itchy butt comes from moistness in the area. I don't know whether it has to do with yeast as has been mentioned or if it's just a by-product of sweating but I think the best thing to do is to try some powder. Cortisone cream before bed may help.

UC can impact the immune system and make you more vulnerable to a variety of infections - your symptoms might be "jock itch" (misnamed fungal infection that can occur in many moist areas of the body).
Talk to Gastro or you could try OTC antifungal.

Pranicure ointment cures the itch! It was designed for pruritus ani, but I used it to heal my anal fissures as well. Don't waste your time with other creams and what not…in order for the area to heal and make the irritation go away, you have to stop the itch first…which is why the Pranicure ointment works so well.

Turmeric likely has no influence. Around here when it gets hot and humid some are known to contract a little known disease called "swamp***."
It might be weather related.

There's an itchy anus thread on the Crohn's section right now that has a few comments that might apply. It has somewhere around 16,000 views, which is crazy.
They speak of some creams and such that might help.

To treat the symptoms, try some Witch Hazel applied with a cotton ball. Tuck a couple of damp cotton balls into the crack overnight for soothing comfort.

Chronic anal itching is often diagnosed as "Pruritus Ani". It's actually more serious than most will think as it can go on for YEARS. There's a lot of information online about
what the potential causes and treatments are, but from my experience (and I've seen multiple specialists) the most effective resource/product is Pranicure ointment. You don't need a prescript
ion to get it and it was created by people who suffered with pruritus ani, anal fissures, and other rectal disorders. I'd suggest you search for pruritus ani or Pranicure and go that route...

yes @Eph. same thing with me.
turmeric directly affects my butt.
direct correlation - I can switch it on and off based on how much turmeric I eat or drink.
When it started I became concerned and read up on parasites, on sleepwear, on a range of causes. I regularly use and prefer sleeping in silk or satin boxers as they are cooler than undies. I started using honey and do parasite cleanses anyway since Westerners get parasites too - whether we like to admit it or not. (more than 90% of cadavers have parasites in their intestines according to morticians). But it wasn't that, though pinworms and other intestinal parasites are a common problem.
Never before used turmeric in cooking or drink. but since I've developed kidney issues, I have been using it solidly. I now drink tea, latte mixes, and make soups with turmeric. And that was when I started getting serious butt itchiness.
If I want my butt to stop itching I have to shower twice daily and soap it, or I have to stop consuming too much turmeric. It's as simple as that.
don't have an itchy butt other than that.
