Hey, yea it has thermophilus and bulgaricus.
Is there any risk of growing hazardous strains of bacteria at home compared to buying commercially?
I found a bacteria culture with thermophilus and bulgaricus from a company that states it has the following in it:
Heavy metal spec
PB(lead) <1 ppm
Hg (mercury) <0.03 ppm
Cd (cadmium <0.1 ppm
Microbiolgoical spec
Bacillus cerus <100 CFU/g
Coagulase postive staphylococci* <10 CFU/g
Enterobacteriaceae <10 CFU/g
Escherichia coli <1 CFU/g
Listeria monocytogenes* Not detected in 25g
Moulds & yeats <10 CFU/g
Salmonella spp* Not detected in 25g
Seems worrying. Is this normal? Would it be possible to grow harmful strains as above? Does commercial yogurt contain the following?
