How long does it take to work?
How effective is it?

Did it work for you? Did it not work for you?

I need to know if this is really going to help me or if I am wasting my time.

I have an LDN consultation on Friday. If this doesn't work, I will be resorting to 6mp.
I cant suffer any more. The vomiting while defecating has returned. I can't eat. Can barley get out of bed. 40lbs under weight. Feeling horrible :(.

I'm so sorry you feel so badly.

They say about a month or so it will need to take effect. I didn't have any effect on it and had to stop it.

I'm now on Imuran and doing great UC wise but I have a lot of nausea because of it.

Hope you get better.

I feel you dude.

I'm over 30lb under weight since this flare started getting onto me.
I really feel like I need IV-fluids but no insurance at this point so I'm tryna stay strong.

I got my LDN today and I'm starting it tonight but because my flare is pretty dam bad, I might have to add in 40-60mg of Prednisone.

My original friendly GI will probably guide me thru.

The results with LDN are mixed. I started taking it in feb 2012 and thought it helped get me out of a flare. Ad then I flared again two months ago in April, so it's tough to say. Maybe it did help me out of that flare but has lost effectiveness after taking it so long? I really don't know. It's cheap and without side effects so, IMO, worth a shot. Plus, I do believe it has boosted my immune system - I haven't gotten sick once since I started on it.

I've had the vomiting while defecating before. It's the worst :( I've never tried LDN but wanted to say I hope you're feeling well soon!!!

I REALLY wanted to give this a fair shake. The dosing schedule is not for me. I had a real hard time taking it between 10pm-2am. By 10 pm I have already been asleep! Some people think daytime dosing works, too, but I never got around to it.

I "compounded" my own. 1 50mg naltrexone tab in 50 ml purified water = 1 mg/ml.

Easy to adjust your own dose this way...tastes horribly bitter, though.

The first studies suggested 4.5 mg as the optimal dose, but more recent data suggests even less.

I didnt notice a difference in symptoms at all. It caused me crazy insomnia though.

I just got off prednisone, my last day was the 12th, just 7 days ago. It was a 40mg taper.
Im considering not even trying LDN and going straight to 6mp because its more "proven"
but im afraid of the side effects

I cant decide what to do, and im afraid to make the wrong decision, I cant feel this way any longer! Been struggling with it since December.

I thought u can take 6mp with LDN?

I just found out today that people took LDN with remicade in the studies with success? then they wean off?

LDN modulates immune system while prednisone and other immunosuppressants suppress the immune system.

I recently found out that LDN is not about boosting your immune system, but modulating.

You just can't take opiate based drugs with LDN.

Yes, you can take pred with LDN. Or Imuran with LDN. They do not cancel each other out.

Sometimes there's a lot of stuff out there about LDN that confuses you, this is one of them.

Well i gave in and started 6mp yesterday as my dr urged. Not sure how long it takes to work, but for now, this hydrocodone has been just barely enough to hold me together. Haven't really eaten in about 4 days. Had some broth, a few tsps of food yesterday, and a protein shake today.. hurts too bad to eat and just sends me violently into the restroom..making my appetite = zero

takes about the same time as LDN.


Protein shake may have additives and may be too hard on your colon.

Had a bad reaction to 6mp.. landed in hospital.. back on prednisone.. what now..

What happened? Its always a risk trying new drugs unfortunately and its scary when something goes wrong.

Added to my fatigue, I could barely move from bed, further lesse.ed my apetite, felt like my stomach was burning, and my joints swelled to where I could barely walk

I got two bags of fluid, 3 morphine shots, a script of prednisone, zofran, and hydrocodone, and instructions to discontinue 6mp and follow up with my dr
