Ever feel giving your Dr a swift kick..

So I speak to my GI Friday about 1 pm. Keep in mind I was the very first patient my DR had 35 years ago. We agree Azulfidine is to hard on my system and he will call in Colozal. So I wait till 5 pm to call my drugstore. My Doc never called in the script Now I have his cell phone and email. I try both letting him know he forgot to call in the meds. All he's got to do is pick up the darn phone and call it in. Not a freaken word from him. I am 99% Sure he just forgot. He's pulled a few stunts over the years like not getting back to me or others over the years. He's a great Dr and will really work with you, but this kind of BS really puts me over the edge. So much for the hippocratic oath..

It should never happen for what they get paid. If a plumber forgot to fix my leaky pipes, I'd be pretty pissed. Doctors are just professionals who are paid to do a job. If they don't do it right, they shouldn't get paid.
Docs are not above us, they should be with us.

the way I look at things like this in life, is it more important to me or to him - if it's me, i'll make sure I pick up the phone an hour after I leave his office to make sure it got done - it's my health, I take the responsibility - especially if I've been down this road before - if you know the way he does things, it's your fault you wound up without your meds -

So soystud this my fault is it...I spoke to the DR roughly 1 pm. He tells me he will phone it in. So exactly what time should I call him back to make sure he does his job..?..2, 3 maybe 4...Maybe I should just have him give me his order pads and I'll write it out myself. I got his private cell phone and email address as back ups...If he doesn't respond, your right must be my fault..You got one hell of a way at looking at things...

Isn't one of the main things doctors tell you is to not stop taking your medicine???? It's kind of hard when they don't write the scripts or call them in....it's not tough to do, especially for a simple medicine like Colozal.

My GI just spent 2 weeks fighting with my insurance company to get me Simponi, it took 3 appeals to get it done and many phone calls. The GI's office even had the Simponi Patient Support (Simponi One) call me to set up my copay assistance ($350 a month). And on top of that his office gave me 4 sample pens of Humira to hold me over until the Simponi was approved.

UC is a very challenging disease to live with, and I think the most important thing for dealing with UC is to have a great GI that you can depend and count on. I've had many GI's in my 9 years of living with UC and when I had bad GI's I suffered because of it. The GI that I have now does not take insurance so I have to pay out-of-pocket to see him but it's worth every dollar I spend with him.

while its definitely unprofessional that your doctor forgot to phone in a prescription that you need, i don't know why you waited until the very end of the day on a friday to call the drugstore for your prescription. i would have called in within an hour or two of the doctor's appointment to make sure the prescription was ready for the weekend. never leave your health in the hands of someone else.
