What's your Remicade infusion procedure?

Just switched infusion sites to the hospital my Dr. and possibly surgeon are associated with, plus it's a much more convenient location for me.
At my old site they would pre-medicate me with oral Tylenol and Benedryl. Check my blood pressure before getting started and then about every 30-45 minutes.
They would start the infusion pump off at a very slow drip, something like 15(not sure of the units) and then double it every 15 minutes until they hit 250.

Had my infusion at the new location on Monday. They gave me oral Tylenol and Benedryl through the IV. The nurse said it would hit me harder, but would be quicker to get out of my system after the infusion. Boy was she right.
They took my blood pressure before getting started and just after completing the infusion.
They also setup the drip at a constant rate and didn't change it at all. So I didn't get woken up by that blood shrieking beep every 15 minutes.
It was so nice not being disturbed every 15 minutes. The nurse said Remicade patients usually grab a pillow and pass out for their entire infusion.

I was pretty surprised how differently the two sites administered Remicade. Anyone experience anything similar?

I was never offered premeds at my infusions. I know she dripped it slow at my first infusion but at a constant rate at my others. I never fell asleep and was usually wide awake. The nurse was a riot so we always had a blast.

I have my infusions done at my GI's office. I have never been offered pre-meds (I probably should, since I got a rash after my first one). I have the BP cuff on the entire time and it auto-checks my BP every 10 minutes or so. The nurse comes in every 15 minutes or so to note my vitals. The drip does start off slow and the nurse will up the speed over the course of the infusion, basically so that I am always done in 2 hours-2 hours, 15 minutes.

Probably because I don't get the Benadryl, I never get tired. I tend to work through my infusions. But I would say about half the people do sleep.

Yes, I'm getting the infusions done at a hospital.
I've always gone on Monday's.
The number of other patients is no where near consistent. Sometimes the room was packed and other times I've been the only one there.
At my new infusion location every patient gets their own little "room" separated by curtains from their neighbors, and their own TV. It's such a nice place, and the staff is wonderful.

I've only had two so far, my premeds, from what I understand, are in the IV. The first appt the checked my bp at he beginning then after 30 minutes, and checked the drip constantly. My last appt though, they checked the bp at the beginning, and set the drip and that was all. There were five others getting an infusion at the same time, so maybe that's why it was different, but it was all done in less then two hours.

I take Tylenol and Zyrtec at home, so don't get a pre-med. My doc has offered solu-medrol but I declined it because of the whole steroid thing. They start the infusion slowly and step it up, with blood pressure at each change. The infusion in total takes about two hours.

I'm never disturbed now, because the step-ups in the IV are done automatically by the infusion pump.

I just wanted to mention that the only reason I get Solumedrol and Benadryl is because I had a reaction after my third infusion - my hands swelled up and were excruciatingly painful claws (which resulted into an ER visit). Since the premed, I've not had that issue and I've been on Remi since Sept '11.
