Hello and good morning, I am new to Healing Well, so here goes with my story and hopefully some helpful support. I was diagnosed UC July '11. Used prednisone for last 18 mos. Various tapers and going back up. Doc finally recommended Imuran. Started @ 50 mg in April for 4 weeks, 75 mg for 4 weeks and now up to 100 mg. I also take 13.5 mg prednisone- trying to taper down. My situation is that I moved pass nausea from imuran and was doing fine, but with the increase I am so agitated that I feel like I am on speed. Any suggestions? I took all 100 mg in one dose yesterday and plan to split it up today 50/50. That might help. I also am taking .75 mg klonopin and 10mg Buspar for anxiety. I feel like there is a drug war inside my body. cry Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond.

Welcome to the forum!

The feeling you're getting could actually still be the pred, I get it from pred not Imuran. Also could be just it working and you're more healed when you're taking it so you just get that energy feeling.

It definitely has a prednisone feeling, but why would The Imuran have a steroid effect? There is no mention in any of the side effect lists. I have been on-line several times trying to find others who have had similar reactions without much success. Why do you think the state of my disease would intensify the agitation? rolleyes rolleyes I guess I over think this too much, but waking up this morning crawling out of my skin was a big surprise. If I can use the Imuran to get off the prednisone that would be fantastic.

I get agitated when I'm on predisone. I don't think it's Imuran doing this.

Thanks for the insights. I am tapering the pred 1.5 mg every two weeks. So, this could be a long road. Possibly as I lower the pred, the speedy feeling will diminish. I have never heard of Uceris. What is it? I suppose all of my attempts so far would be classified as semi-remission. I am not in the bathroom all day long, but the urgency is powerful and immediate. No bleeding, few cramps. Mucous still very much present, but BMs formed for the most part- maybe 4-5 daily. Never totally symptom free and that is with the Asacol. prednisone,and Imuran. Also, controlling diet with no wheat, no dairy, little sugar. Gets old fast, but better than the alternative. So tell me about Uceris.
