Hey guys after recently being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in my rectum after a Colonoscopy I have continued to notice a translucent oily film on the toilet water after doing a BM. It is hard to notice, I only picked it up using my flash light but is this something consistent with UC? The foam I am using is helping with everything which is awesome and I see my GI again this Friday

did you start noticing the film in the toilet before or after you started using the foam?

I get that from enemas but I've never noticed it when I didn't use enemas/suppositories.

are you eating a lot of greasy, fried foods? that may be causing it. either way, let your gi know & see what he says about
it.

I'd say it's food or supplement or oil mixed with mucus.
If it floats, it's an oil of some sort.
How many bms daily are you having? and what's the consistency of them?

Pizza, redbull, subway etc and dairy makes things worse but very hard to give up

you have uc and yet continue to ingest things like redbull? yikes.
i don't see anything wrong with subway, but eating greasy foods like pizza on a regular basis is definitely going to cause diarrhea & other weird bowel habits. it would do that even in people who don't have uc.
try making a homemade pizza if you absolutely have to have it, use goat cheese instead if dairy is a problem for you.

All you can do is make changes diet-wise, but it's safe to say the oil is probably from your diet and the fact that your colon is on the quick side getting it through.
You might also consider adding a fibre supplement and probiotics to the mix.
What foam are you using...mesalamine or steroid?
Good to hear it's helping.
