I know the CCFA website says UC is more common among white people of European origin and people with Jewish heritage. I wonder if anyone has ever heard of why scientists think this is the case?
When CCFA investigated other races to begin with? UC has a good base in Japan as well. When it comes to studying genetic predisposition or disease investigation Caucasian population is studied most but when something is not prevalent in Caucasian population, it is not studied due to the lack of funding.

UC is 5 times more prevalent in Jews - Ashken@zi Jews in particular - than the general population. Lucky me!
I studied a disorder that is primarily found in this population. The current line of thought is, its because of the inbreeding. If I have to give some genetic suggestion to anybody from this population, I would ask them to have a child with a partner that is not from the same genetic stock and Caucasians. The chances of genetic fcuk up are just too high.
@imagardener2,
I believe all top area of the earth is the epicenter. AFAIK, Sweden is highest among the Scandinavia, 1 in 200.
I am not too sure if there are less number of cases in African-originated population or under-reported. But isn't it the fact that UC also has some connections to affluence?
For e.g. Some 20-30 years ago, India had very less number of IBD patients, now, you hear it quite often.
