How's this for a Colon Prep???

Has anyone ever heard of this for a colon prep: 1. At Noon take 4 Dulcolax 2. At 3 pm mix 328 grams of Miralax into a 64 oz bottle of Gatorade.

That's it...that's all there is to it! It seemed to work well for my son and he actually enjoyed the Gatorade.

That was the prep that my GI had me do for the colonoscopy the ended up finding my UC. I used PowerAde instead because I like the taste better. After reading about all the awful preps most docs give out, I was more than happy with what I had to do. Drinking 8oz of PowerAde mixed with Miralax every 15 minutes isn't the greatest thing ever, but sounds like most of the other options are WAY worse!!

UCwhat: My son has drank all the other normal, nasty preps but none of his doctors have ever recommended this prep before. It was so much easier on his colon and he didn't run to the bathroom 20 times. From now on, this is the prep we will use.

I'm going to make a note of this for future bowel preps. I do feel compelled to ask, what he completely cleaned out at the end of the night, before midnight? And also once mixed, did he chill the Gatorade/Miralax mixture? Thank you so much!

Yes, he was cleaned out and we did keep the Gatorade cold. I just poured the gatorade into a pitcher and mixed in the Miralax. We used the new Cherry flavored gatorade, because its white or almost clear.

This was my bowel prep before my colectomy. It was definitely easier than Suprep (which made me vomit) but still not super pleasant. Well, except for mine was twice as much Gatorade if I recall correctly (it seemed like 10000 gallons at the time)... how old is your son? :)

!!! Thank you for alerting me to the existence of this!! I have to go on non-red clears tomorrow and I was ready to shoot myself over another day of lemon/lime/pineapple crap, hahaha. I've always said my million dollar business idea was to make cherry and grape flavored stuff without the food coloring so you could have it before a colonoscopy wink Well, OK, maybe more like $100...

I have done that prep a few times. They all make me puke though. Good luck!

Liz, Glad I could help you out with the new Gatorade flavor!! I bet you're consuming some of that Cherry Gatorade as I type!! My son is 20, soon to be 21. He really didn't mind this prep at all. He almost pukes at the moviprep and whatever the other prescription ones are called.

I always use gaterade and miralax prep.I amke it in the morning in a pitcher and refridgerate for a few hours. Of course no red gaterade. Can't look at the stuff now! Blech!!!!
