I thought I was clogging the Antihistamine thread with non antihistamine related details. ;)
I am the mother of a 13 year old boy diagnosed in July with Severe Ulcerative Pancolits, after two months of flaring with blood tests and a scope confirming, which I believe was induced/aggravated by a histamine excess after being on a low chemical diet two months previous and then adding foods back in to "challenge" the system. He also went from 94 pounds to 70 within this time.
After the scope his condition was deemed so severe as to be admitted immediately. He was rehydrated intravenously and given a blood transfusion along with five days of IV steroids and four iron infusions. After a week in the hospital, we left and he was still bleeding with diarrhea, but had gained 4kg from their "nutrition services" and presumably the IV fluids.
He's now at 68 pounds, taking 40mg prednisone and 1mg folic acid along with Fermented cod liver oil/butter oil combo capsules, non-histamine forming probiotics, Digest Gold and DAO enzymes with meals, and MOST days 1,700mg Vitamin C & multivitamin powder, and just started daily Claritin.
He is surviving on raw goat milk (just 8oz/day when he feels like it), white rice, butter, coconut oil, some chicken and broth and Annie's gluten free mac&cheese. I try to get him to try other things, but he's very picky right now. No bananas, no pear juice, no carrots, no coconut milk... But he'd probably eat a pizza if I let him. I'm certain that would be counterproductive.
I am SUPER grateful to have found this forum. I am not content to blindly follow the doctors advice and have been diligently searching for answers. I am also not content to accept that he will inevitably be on prescript
ion medications for the rest of his life because this is "incurable". I believe are bodies are amazing and given the right and necessary resources, they can heal.
So there ya go, I am excited to get to know you all. From what I've experienced thus far, you all are super cool and very friendly. I appreciate all the help in advance and hope someday to be helpful to others.
