I've heard and dealt with the negative side effects of Prednisone while on the drug, but has anyone had symptoms when they quit taking it?  I tapered off and yesterday was my first day without it and I've been bat crap crazy since.  I've had the huge mood swings, anger, unexplained rage, depression, and random bouts of crying in public.  I wasn't like this before Pred, and I'm hoping it's only a temporary lingering of this God awful drug.  I'm really stuggling to get through the day right now and unfortunately, I have no one to talk to who'd understand.  Not sure if it's relevant but I also have started taking Cumcurin, Tumeric, and Slippery Elm, but I don't think natural medicines would make me feel this depressed and be this psycho.  HELP!

Those all sound like pred withdrawal symptoms which will go away in time. How quickly did you come off of the drug? Usually a slow taper is used. Sounds like you had a hard-landing to me (quit too fast).

I tapered as my doctor instructed, but then again, he did want me to start a steroid enema the day I was finally off it, but I didn't take the enema because these steroids cause so many other problems and I just wanted to be done with all of them. Is there any natural medicine I can take to help with the mood swings and get me out of this depression?

I'd say you have a choice of either waiting and letting the withdrawal symptoms run its course or break down and take a small dose of the steroid to relieve yourself of it. The steroid enema might be enough, or perhaps a partial tab of pred if you have any left. We're just random folks on the internet, so don't be afraid to call your doctor and tell him about what you're experiencing; that's what they are there for.

My daughter, 16 at the time would have scary Roid Rage. But it passed. Hang tough

I would try vigorous excercise it might stimulate your adrenals

Thanks everyone, I think I'll put a call into my doctor and see what he says, and try exercise. I do yoga as a form of therapy, I'm completely obsessed with it and begin training to become a yoga teacher soon, but this dreaded mood swing/depression has made me lose all motivation to do yoga, so I'll force myself to practice tonight and hopefully that will relieve a bit of the symptoms.

Sounds like the pred. It should go away. Interesting that you are taking both Curcumin and Turmeric at the same time. Curcumin is in Turmeric already so you are kind of double dosing to some extent.

Im on pred now and its got me feeling pretty swollen, achey, and generally crappy. A bit snappy too. I forced myself to get on the roof and crank out some hard sweaty work the other day, it helped. Good luck.

so far, I am still pretty much myself on this round of prednisone. the last time I was on it, I was very edgy. I remember my grandma started massaging my hugely swollen feet and kept saying how I needed to walk around. I ended up yelling "get the EFF off my feet and leave me the hell alone."

i'm usually not an aggressive person, but the F-bomb seems the only way to get things across sometimes.
