i wish the mods would just remove all posts not privy to Joanna getting better. This isn't a place for debate/arguing/agendas/etc.

I still have my FT apt but not sure about it. Id be getting 1 colonoscopy and 3 sigmoidoscopies in 5 days. Im worried since my inflammation is so bad. Dont think all the scopes are a good idea at all! I plan on calling the gastro office and telling them what has happened. Maybe they will have an idea of what i should do.

Today was fun. My sister and i went shopping and i only had one morning bm. Still have blood and cramping but cant really do anything about that besides take my meds. Just gonna stay hopeful. Im going to the pool tomorrow to work on my tan since being in the hospital has left me a little vampirish!

Joanna have they ever recommended an antispasmodic? Like bentyl. In the past I found that it helped with spasms/cramps.

Give the meds some time, if frequency goes down you'll finally get bowel rest which I found to be among the most helpful signs that you're on the mend.

Please use mega sunscreen...!!! pred and sun do not mix.

Yeah, maybe good to put the FT on hold for a month or so?  Can you do it if you're on pred?

White is fine...use lotion tanners.

Oh yikes, I wouldn't go in the sun while on Prednisone!!!! You should limit yourself in the sun. I have skin damage on my face from Prednisone and sun. It can leave these funky brown splotches on your face....almost like a mask. I have them all the time but it's worse in the summer. This didn't happen until 2 years after my prednisone use. My sister has the same thing. We are still paying the darn predinisone price. If you must sun bathe, put on a high spf and wear a hat to shade your face.

ahh I should've read this before I was out all day!!! just spent like 1.5 hours catching some rays. it was a bit too breezy here to go swimming. I never wear sunscreen but thanks for letting me know about the prednisone's interactions.

jac, I have used bentyl in the past with no relief. two pills a day. I still have some so maybe I should try it again. I swear, my cupboard is like a pharmacy of random medicines.

and yes, me and NCOT are good!! no negativity between us at all.

quincy, I am not sure about how the medicines would interact with FT. I feel it would help me hold the poop in easier with less inflammation, but i'm really not up for all those scopes in a 5 day time span. it would be easier if it was just one colonoscopy and the rest of the week I could do enemas. I will have to ask them at my appointment this month.

in my experience bentyl was a drug i would have to take every 4-6 hours. it's kind of preventive and won't really offer much relief if you're already in a state of discomfort.

wow, 1.5 hours of sun seems like alot if you don't have a strong base tan. i spent 30 minutes max per side, any more and I burn badly. where i live it seems more like fall weather than summer, and i haven't been able to use my pool either :(, then again being in a pool while ill doesn't have much appeal anyways.

just a note about those nice brown spots on your face.....they will NEVER GO AWAY...and even if they fade, just add more sun, the pill, eventual pregnancy other meds, AND maybe just a bit of more sun...ugh.

Value your skin, for the tan of today isn't worth the anguish of the future you. because, you'll give a bigger regret and know better.

I'm not in the sun, and the spots on my face are probably from when I was on the pill in the mid 70s. The last time I tanned was maybe in the mid '80s with sunscreen...I still have them but they're still not too dark at least.

1.5 hours...yikes.

I agree with quincy on the sun thing. I used to spend so much time in the sun with no sunscreen. Well I got those brown spots on my face as well. It's called Melasma and can be caused by some birth control pills and a combo of sun exposure. My derm told me you won't get it without the sun exposure though.  There is a cream that will take it away. It's called Tri-luma and it worked for me. It's quite spendy though and insurance won't cover it. But one tube lasts me more than a year and it took away the brown spot above my lip. The melasma won't come back unless you of course get back in the sun without sunscreen.

I use self-tanner now. Alot of people tell me I have a nice tan, they can't even tell its from a lotion. Works for me! :)

I am away from the forum for a few days and look what happens! I was seriously panicking at the beginning of this thread but kept reading and whew! What a relief to find that our bananagirl is on the mend once again. You do give us these scares from time to time, girl!

Of course, I am still not caught up yet on the newest threads so hopefully nothing bad has happened since the last post in this thread...

+1. It was absolutely scary to read the first pages of this thread. So relieved to read that things are improving. Your attitude must have helped you turning back from the disaster... Stay with it girl! You will be fine :-)
