Man oh man do I not miss those days! Had them all the time. I remember once heading to the airport (actually on way to a general surgery cknsukt years before I had surgery) and the excitement of getting a taxi and making my flight forced me to get the cabbie to make an emergency stop at a big hotel en route- grabbed my rolling bag while running to the mens room which was wise because I had soiled my jeans. Trashed them, washed up, put on a backup pair of jeans, popped some immodium and headed to the airport where I dumped some more later.
I also remember how hard it was on my wife that every time we'd go for a walk or hike, half the time I'd come running back home 5 minutes into the walk, and do that a few times in a row on occasion; or wr'd be out smewhere and I'd have to stop, sit, do breathing exercises and mental games to hold it in to make it home. Never ever wore depends but in over 15 years of active UC I only pooped in my pants about
6 times, but orobably 10 or 20 times as many close calls where I held it under duress.
As far as techniques, for me key was like others have reported- get up a couoke hours earlier than Otherwise would, tolet breakfast trigger a couple hours of multiple BMs, let immodium kick in and usually I was then good fir the remainder of the day.
