Prednisone side effects

Hey guys I'm down to 5mg a day on this awful prednisone. I currently have a buffalo hump on my neck area, a double chin, and who can forget about the moon face. it's so funny because I am so thin my body looks so unproportinate . I was on 60mg for about 4 weeks and now down to 5mg. I was wondering when these side effects will go away and when I will notice some changes I can't stand looking like this especially when I start my senior year of high school August 27th! Hoping I will see some changes before then.

The side effects will go away with time. I can't be sure it'll go away by the 27th but I also wouldn't be surprised if they do. The important thing is you're feeling better

You didn't mention how your UC was. Are you taking any other meds to remain in remission after the pred has been tapered off? You need some kind of a strategy because if pred was the only thing you were doing chances are your UC will come back before too long. The pred side effects will gradually go away.

My UC is doing well I haven't had any symptoms in over a month. I am taking delzicol (mesalamine) 3 times a day 2 400mg capsules. Iron pill 325mg 2 a day. 1 Omeprazole 40mg pill a day. And the prednisone.

Also I'm taking Mercaptopurine at bedtime 50mg

you could always tell people that you went on a trip to south America this summer and were attacked by a swarm of African killers bees that for some mysterious reason targeted your neck and head and you're just plain lucky to have survived ?

I like soystud's suggestion. seems the most logical.

there's really no way to know how long your moon face will last unfortunately. my face is fat all the time no matter what so I've gotten used to moon face since birth.

yeah, as banangirl has said, there's no real way of telling. i know mine went away pretty quickly during my last prednisone episode but it really varies from case to case.
