Which would be good that won't disrupt your UC and IBS? I am looking into exercising and was curious about
this. Can it lactose, gluten-free? What kind is best for us and our hostile guts?
And if it isn't compatible, what else can I use either before or after workout sessions?

I use Absorb Plus but I plan on buying this when I run out.

It's by Vital Whey.

Can you just explain how it's sourced. Is it by milk? Would that bother me, being lactose intolerant?
Also, would Creatine bother UC at all?
Thanks for the link, Joanna!

sibby, i have had flares ups on and off for a while and still on a 3 month flare tapering down again. i ran into the same problem with getting the right protein. i normally use myofusion chocolate protein for working out. but when i am in a flare i use isopure isolate zero carb its also lactose free i know its expensive but its worth it. i also get the flavor vanilla because chocolate interferes with me when im out of remisson. what i do is mix it with 75 % water and 25% cranberry juice. if you can handle milk its an awesome mix as well. i have tried atkins, boost and those all have to much sugar and actually made me use the bathroom more so. and the use of creatine i would not use until you are about
three weeks out of the flare and your body is normal. i know you may hate to hear this but for some people creatine may aggervate your system. i know you want to keep your ability to stay on top of the gym and get the max out of your workout because i am the same way. i went from 190 to 170 because of this disease and thats normal when im in a flare. hope this helps and hope you get well quick !!!!!!

I stay away from all dairy products because of an allergy, so anything with Whey or milk protein of any sort. I have found that Genisoy Soy protein works well for me (I think they have an almond based one as well). It mixes well into things, and is easily found at many department stores. Comes in regular, vanilla, and chocolate. I actually keep the vanilla on hand to mix into things like oatmeal for an added boost of protein when I can't eat much else. It doesn't seem to irritate my stomach at all.

Sibby,
I use Goat Milk Whey Protein by Tera's Whey, unflavored. Completely organic, natural etc... thus expensive.
It's not dairy cow milk.
I use it because I drink green smoothies and I need the protein to carry me through the day. A serving has 22 grams.
It needs sweet fruit to cut the taste of goat's milk. However it does come in a naturally flavored variety -- pomegrante/cranberry.
Highly recommend it.

My gut can't handle much dairy so I use non-whey protein powders. One of my favorite sources is truenutrition.com. They have an option where you can create your own custom protein mix. You decide exactly what goes in it: type of protein, flavorings, and sweeteners. My go to mix is half pea protein, half egg white protein, no sweetener, with light vanilla flavoring. I admit it isn't the best tasting stuff in the world, however, it doesn't negatively effect my UC so I can easily look past the taste.

I'm looking into all of them. Thank you!
What about
Chia seed extract, anyone here of this? I've been doing some research and this would be better for vegan's and lactose intolerant people who have issues with whey and whey isolate.
I have to be careful what I ear because of LDN :-/ I don't know for sure if I can use whey protein isolate.

The best kind of whey protein? Raw goat milk of course. :)
Any kind of undenatured whey protein is good and you need to use a shaker so as not to denature it. Bananagirl suggested a great brand.

Hello. I'm a new member. 36 year old male and have had UC for 16 years. Noticed your post about
whey protein. Try a brand of protein by a company called USN. One of their protein supplements contains an ingredient called Tolerase which helps break down the lactose which causes bloating etc. I've worked out and practiced Judo for years an have tried many different supplements. To date this one genuinely seems to not bloat me up like all of the orhers. Hope this helps.
