"We tend to forget that its hard on our loved ones as well." I don't know Marianne, I don't think thoughts like that at ALL. First of all I'm not married and I'm sure there are lots of other people in here living alone.
My illness is mine! If I am sick or not feeling well and it affects someone else then that is their problem, not mine. If someone chooses to let their emotions or moods change because of someone else being sick then they have to deal with that. Can you imagine if all the nurses in the world let their patients illnesses affect their moods or well-being? We'd be in a whole heck of a lot of trouble! :)
Well I am married and my illness DID effect my family. I also had two young children at the time. Maybe if you are alone you don't have to think about
other people but when you have a family there is a responsibility to them too not just to yourself. I couldn't go on laying in bed all day sick when I had two little kids. I took charge of the situation as hard as it was to have surgery and today I am healthy and present in my family's lives. And my husband has his own CPA firm, he didn't need to be my nurse too. You can't compare a nurse's job to one of our loved ones we live with.
