So glad it is over and results seem to be good.  Interesting about the rectum....would using enemas nightly for a while heal the area, or is it just a result of having the disease for an extended time? 

Either way, you did it!  Sorry that it was more uncomfortable than usual, but it is good to hear that your Dr. will still be around.  A nice surprise. 

So enjoy brunch and hopefully things will be back to normal bm wise in no time.  Keep us posted on biopsies.

Glad things are looking pretty good!

hateuc...the difference of the "texture" in the rectum is from having more continued inflammation and cellular changes. I think it changes the structure because of inflammation and all that happenes during that process.

It still looked a normal pink at the top of the rectum, but more opaque/solid rather than clearer, and farther down it looked a bit darker pink, so that would be considered to be inflamed, albeit extremely mild. Some might be from the prep, but it could be that the area is always somewhat easily inflamed/touchy...hence my continued use of the enemas, especially for maintenance.

I'm still bleeding from the biopsies,, but I have no symptoms that I'd consider having inflammation such as wet farts/urgency...but I'll use the enemas till the bleeding is completely gone (hopefully by tomorrow).

CDETER...from the first one, I've never been put out. He did mention that other patients seem to sleep with the dosage he gives me...but he obviously doesn't mind if patients are awake or asleep.
It also depends on the med choice of the doctor...but patients should have the right to what they want or don't want. That's not necessarily the case.    A discussion with the doctor at an appointment before the scope and a HUGE reminder the day of the scope might render some results of a different med (with the choice to add more if necessary)

Wow, Quincy, that's great news about your doc "staying in the game"! I'm thankful that my gastro is younger & hopefully won't retire for at least another decade. Glad you now have the scope behind you and feel up to outside brunch. Yippee! / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Yes, I'm very happy my doc's staying till at least June. The "distress" of anticipating dealing with a new GI was quite intense for some reason..lol.

I'm pretty much back to normal today...no bleeding, so that was the normal time of healing. I'll start skipping every second night tomorrow...yay.

hateuc...yes, the enemas have been a positive for me, so I'll stick to them till they don't work. The schedule of maintenance seems to be a plus.
