ulcerative colitis

First tym on one of thesr forums.
Had uc since 1996. 11 shocking years on prednisolone.mesalazine and azoithaprione to supress immune system. Nothing worked.then it dawned on me around 2008 ish.
Uc has seen a massive increase in cases over last 20 years or whatever.
Developing world are also now seeing increases.
Third world virtually no cases.i had students checking my condition because they had not seen it
I bought a water filter and started filtering my tap water as I drank quite a lot.
Within 2 weeks the flare up had virtually stopped.
I reduced my mesalazine to minimum dose ( I was on max) and started reducing the prednisolone.
1 month later off prednisolone.
3 month later had my endoscopy and nurse said and I quote:
Except for your scarring from previous flare ups I would b happy if my bowel looked as clear as yours.
5 years on. I take minimum dose mesalazine.
No major flare ups.
Try it you have nothing to lose and your water will taste better.
Once you filter you wont go back cos it tastes terrible.
Hope this helps someone. It tranformed my life.

Sounds obvious looking back but took me long enough to figure it out.
