Halo, I was on the same road as you, my doc had basically given up and wanted to slice me
open but I wam not ready for it despite how bad I was.... well they increased my remicade from 5 to 10 and am doing it every 6 weeks. That seemed to help some but I was still get some loose stools and I have been down the remicade path before where it works well at first but then starts to not work after a while....... So I decided to do my own research and while I know this is not for everyone but I did some research and spoke with my wife (a nurse) about
it and decided to start smoking "weed", yep, I smoke a very small amount (a "one hitter") about
3 to 4 nights a week before bed time. I was not looking to "get high", I am a 40 year old person with alot of responsibilities but the UC was ruining my life and frankly I just can't wrap my head around the jpouch surgery, so I decided to try this, well I have been smoking for about
5 months now (along with the remicade) and my symptoms are 99.9999% gone. My stools are formed and solid, I sleep through the entire night every night (except when I have to pee), I no longer worry about
"where is the nearest bathroom", I am digesting my food better (I keep to a pretty strict diet of whole foods and home cooked emals) and I am gaining weight again, my anxiety is gone (atleast anxiety over this, and my other anxiety is way less). I feel loads better. Again I know something like that is not for everyone but it's been a lifesaver and I truly believe that it is more the "weed" than the remicade quite honestly, it does wonders for calming everything down, it helps your appetite, everyone is different so I am not saying it will work for everyone but it's working for me and I couldn't be happier, my doctor said at my last visit my inflammatory markers on my lab work were the best they've been in 8 years and he was really encouraged, full disclosure I did not tell him I have been smoking because I don't want it in my medical records but thought I'd share with you fine community folks because I know the hell you are going through
