confused  ok so i have been sick since saturday and im terrified that im gonna have to go to the ER.  i hate hospitals. and i got bloodwork an hour ago and im just so scared that they will see something abnormal and call me soon.  i dont want to go to the hospital.  I also have a serious question.. do hospitals HAVE to do colonoscopies if you have C-DIFFCILE infection?   i have all symptoms of c-diff.

WHAT DO I DO?

If the doctor thinks you might have Cdiff they will ask you for a stool sample and test it. No colonoscopy needed.

they probably wouldn't do a colonoscopy on a c diff patient. they'd want to treat you with antibiotics right away since it can spread to other patients. hospitals are nuts about c diff and you will get your own room if you have it.

i did 3 rounds of antibiotics for c diff and always had my own hospital room- no colonoscopy any of the times.

if you just got bloodwork, you'll hear from them in the morning if it's bad. they don't test it THAT fast haha i've had plenty of next day calls from my nurse - "get to the ER fast- you need blood transfusions." that gets old after the 10th time.

I was scheduled for a colonoscopy while I was in the hospital. When the results came back that I had C-Diff it was cancelled. Thank God. They started me on some heavy antibiotics. The part I liked best was my Dr couldn't have been out of my room 20 minutes before my roommate was taken out and I had a room to myself. :)

yea. that happned to me too. they came in and were like.. no colonoscopy!

C. diff and UC symptoms are pretty much identical.

Honestly, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is to calm down. Getting this worked up isn't healthy.

I had C. Diff many years ago and I didn't end up in the hospital. I was able to take care of it at home with Flagyl prescribed by my GI. Why do you think you would need a scope for C. Diff? And why would you think you have to be hospitalized for it? Unless it's very severe I don't see why you can't just stay at home and take care of it there. But if you do stay home and if you DO have C. Diff...just take the proper precautions after every bm so no one else in your household gets it.
