time of day for fmt?

Hi all!
I just had a question about FMT's. I am currently a donor for my boyfriend, am in good health, and am regular. We started following Sky Curtis' protcol for duration of FMTs. As I was skimming through her book, however, I read a part that said that the transplant HAS to be done in the AM otherwise it is not as effective. Is there any truth behind this, or does anyone have any experience where the donor would go for the first time later in the day? We had been doing them in the early evenings because the timing was better and more convienent for both of us and I could get a better consistency of the slurry. It was still my first BM of the day. As far as my schedule goes I am one that doesnt go to bed until about 2-2:30am every night and wake up a bit later. While my last meal of the day typically is eaten around 8pm, my last BM of the day doesnt occur until about 10:30-11pm so when I wake up I don't have the need to go. I know I shouldn't force it in the mornings but we are concerned about the effectiveness of doing them later in the day.Should I try to change my BM/sleeping schedule to accomidate this? I'm hoping this all makes sense and someone has some sort of input. Sky Curtis has made herself impossible to get a hold of to try to dig and get an answer so I'm praying someone has some idea of what needs to be done.

I dont think it matters but i am not a FMT specialist.

I have had success performing FT's at night. Both options have pro's and con's. If done in the morning it ensures that your colon is mostly cleared out but causes the FT to stay near the rectum until expelled. I performed mine right before bed so that i was lying down, allowing the FT to stay further up in the colon longer. So, you don't have to worry about ineffectiveness later in the day. I would do whatever is most convenient and whenever he can hold it in the longest.

Thanks Loolover. While you are doing it at night is it your donors first BM of the day still? Are you feeling 100% normal again? For how long have you done FTs? Sorry for the questions, my boyfriend is just stressed and likes to hear how its been working for others that do it in the evenings.

Wait, Loolover, so your main advice would be for the FMT recipient to share the same diet as the donor?

Did your donor end up changing their diet to match yours?

that's pretty awesome that your donors would be happy to change their diets to assist with the FMTs. My donor is going through enough donating her stool, I know she won't be willing to change her diet to a restrictive one too (aside from eating healthier as she wants to have motivation to eat healthier too).

Max - During all of my previous FTs my donor did not follow SCD. Next week I plan to do 5 more FTs with my donor living with me (and following SCD), I am thankful that he has been very flexible and understands how important this could be for me if it is successful.

There are a few things I have changed for this round
1. He will now be eating the exact same food as I do
2. Next week i will finish 2.5 weeks of Wild Oregano Oil before the FTs. This i hope will act as a natural antibiotic providing a cleaner "slate" to work with
3. After the FTs I intend to start consuming Resistant Starches to help build up the positive bacteria

Loolover, can you expand on what are resistant starches? I was just plannibg on eating fiber and fermentable foods
