I am doubtful that you'd be diagnosed with ulcerative colitis if it was in fact amoebic colitis. My colonoscopy showed all the physical signs of ulcerative colitis but my biopsy didnt have the right auto immune markers to indicate UC so they won't diagnose me as such....yet. One of their theories is my ulcers/inflammation was caused by an infection of some kind. What I'm saying is, it's easy to say what it is when you have the right markers etc. if you had biopsies taken and they said UC I'd tend to believe it.
My diagnosis was based on colonoscopy/ biopsy, and what you say really sounds logical. I am just still hoping some miracle will happen and Ill get my life back. You all must think I'm silly for having such hopes. :( The onset of my symptoms began right after my grandmother, a beloved person in my life I am very attached to, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a situation where no other family member was around, and I was already under a lot of stress before that, but still had to make appointments, take her to numerous clinics for exams, and had nowhere to vent all the pressure I was under. Don't get me wrong... There is no price I wouldn't pay for her well being, so if that triggered my UC, then fine. Right in the middle of the chaos we were going through I started bleeding like crazy (although I had some symptoms prior to that).
