Bad flare, doc not helping! Not sure what to do

garylouisville, you know your stuff. Exactly right, c. diff is a bugger to get rid of. Glad to hear it's c. diff though, which is probably better than trying to control a flare (for me at least it was). You'll probably feel better very soon :D yay!

Vancomyacin is better for c diff. I would just like to say I did root canal twice with no antibiotic and I am fine. I think people overdo the antibiotics in general. The real question is whether you were taking anything in the first place for yous UC? Most of us take daily meds for maintenance. I would just worry about the c diff for now and see where you go. Hopefully things get better without any further treatment.

Yea I had the antibiotics for my tooth after the root canal- it was giving me a lot of pain and I guess it was breeding an abscess.

I am on Apriso and imuran as maintainence drugs.

oh ok. that's a different story then. I didn't have any of that. Mine went very smoothly and no bacteria or issues I guess. So the antibiotics sound like they were necessary. I am sorry this happened to you. What dose of apriso and imuran are you taking? Do you sue rectals?

Apriso- take 4 pills a day (.375mg per pill) and 100 mg imuran. I have tried suppositories but that was back when I had proctitis- now that the disease has progressed into the entire colon, I haven't moved back to using them. My doc hasn't suggested them. Ugh, I remember then being a pain in the butt (pun intended), messy, and uncomfortable.

On a lighter note, I think my medicine for the C Diff is working- I'm feeling a lot better today.

Wash everything down including door knobs and cabinet handles with bleach. The only thing to clean those spores. It took me 2 x on difican to get rid of the c diff. My daughter had it and she did well after a 2 week course of flagyl.

plus no sharing towels!!!

A bleach cleaner spray such as Vim with bleach could work for you.

Good to hear you're feeling better now that you're on the meds.

Maybe after everything is done, consider to add rectal meds to your regimen if it's feeling a tad "iffy"...of course, it would be best to be using them regardless.
