How Long for Pred 40mg to Take Effect?

How long does it generally take before you start to feel better on Prednisone? Today is my 4th day, I'm just wondering when I should expect to feel a difference. I'm guessing it will take a week or possibly a few? I also never really had bleeding or anything, I just go a lot. If that helps to judge the severity.

Everyone responds differently. For me, it was around three hours after the fist dose that I felt a huge difference.

Luckily, I responded to it within 24 hrs because my left colon had nearly blocked. I was able to start tapering down after the 8th day at 40 mg. But I was on disability leave from my job-- so I rested most of the time & that definitely helped me to make slow, steady progress toward remission. / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Okay another question. I think I'm feeling a little better today.

So when recovering from a flare which do you guys notice first.

I have been going a bit less these last two days but my bowel movements still have no form (very loose).

Go less often happens first. I'm coming out of a flare and the only remaining symptom is loose stool. That's even though the colonoscopy I had earlier this week showed that 80% of the inflammation is gone.
