OT: What's your favorite movie?

aww i haven't seen that one yet!!!

my favorites that i've seen this past year are "we're the millers" and "the book thief."

my favorite movies of all time are bruno, what happens in vegas, my best friend's girl, and anchorman. i love laughing!

White Oleander and The Fifth Element. Among the other ones lol.

The Goonies. Perfect movie for an 80s early 90s kid

^fifth element was so good. I love Bruce Willis and Mila jovovich sp(?). The radio personality (Chris tucker?) was hilarious.

I typically like any movie where the bully, miscreant, double crosser, tyrant, etc. gets what is coming to them in the end. That story never gets old.

American Beauty and Fight Club are 2 of my favorites. Also a big fan of Dawn of the dead original and the remake

The Godfather, Part II

I also love Young Frankenstein, Groundhog Day, and the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (with Gene Wilder).

It would be a French or Italian film because I prefer romance in movies, not violence or sci-fi, and I like to hear those languages in dialogue. But Kieslowski's "Decalogue" is wonderful, very special, and can be watched in 1 hr. segments. Then there are certain oldies like "Casablanca" ... To laugh I need a Woody Allen film. Do you have Netflix? / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

All time - The Shawshank Redemption

I need to see the movie you mention Madpotter (love Harry by the way, assuming your nick has something to do with Harry Potter?). Someone mentioned We are the Miller's, surprisingly very good movie, loved it.

But right now and probably until 2015, all I have on the brain are the hunger games' movies, they are never far from my mind (of course books too). I've been this way ever since I read the first book back in 2010!

I liked Witness too.

I like the classic good movies that may not have a lot in common except that they are well made. Anywhere from The Godfather to the Sound of Music. I like war movies that are so intense that they turn out to make the case for pacifism such as Platoon and the German version of Das Boot. Or Kids' movies that are so good that adults can appreciate them such as the Wizard of Oz and ET.

I can tell if I like a movie, (whether or not I want to admit it to myself), is while switching channels on the TV and finding a movie like Goodfellas which I have seen many times, but stop browsing other channels and continue watching.

There is no surprise about the dozens of my favorite movies except sometimes there is a movie that I know will not turn out to be a classic, but I liked it anyway such as Clockwork Orange. (Almost embarrassed to admit that I liked it).

Another is The Game with Michael Douglas. I see it as a metaphor for life and why sometimes the universe appears to be against us. Michael Douglas plays an A-Hole whose life is turned upside down. But in the end you realize that he needed to go through that in order to change his outlook and grow spiritually.

I loved Lust Caution. There is so much tension in that movie. I almost just couldn't. I also like Infernal Affairs.
