GI visit today

He told me Remi and Humira are essentially the same, the administration is really the only difference and asked me to pick which one so I went with Humira based on convenience and he said we can always switch meds if we have to (which now that I think of it seems odd cuz he said they both work the same anyways so if one doesn't work why would the other?)

Anyways just waiting for the consultant to call and explain how the whole deal goes down (cost, where to get my meds etc.)

He said rectal meds if I really wanted them but his concern is that the inflammation is so deep/bad in my anus and rectum that it may be too painful to administer and since I'm not feeling any tenesmus to see how the Humira works (but if I really want RM he'll give me them) right now it's a no since I don't feel physically bad enough for them (think the mj is helping with that issue anyways)

Said to continue with sex based on my comfort level with it as it wouldn't likely cause any issues with the fistulas.

In 4 months I see him for a miniscope that he only wants to put in to the rectum and no further to check if Humira is working....he said he felt so bad because during the C-scope I was crying and moaning a lot so he thought I could feel the pain and he was shocked when I told him I couldn't (I was totally put out but my body still reacts to the scope due to the internal pain and pain on the perianal crohn's skin tags) then he refreshed my memory on our brief conversation we had after the scope and I told him the only thing I recall about the talk was asking about sex...it was funny when he told me our conversation and at what point and how I mentioned sex...lol...hubby thought it was funny too..he was in the room with me to help recall todays' visit cuz I had to do mj in order to get to this appointment.

Oh thanks ByeBye for the explanation, he basically made it sound like they work along the very same lines so it was a matter of personal preference as to how you want it administered...time will tell I guess. I've always heard Remi is the best option for fistulas too but he said Humira is just as good when it comes to fistula issues. Guess we'll see.

It's too see if it's helping the fistula as well as the deep inflammation that I have in the rectum, he said my entire rectum is inflammed with too many areas that have deep inflammation in lining of it..

Thanks Eva, I'm trying to be very optimistic that it well even put me in remission for my first time ever in 23 yrs he even mentioned it may bring down the inflammation on my rectal tags and that he knows a good surgeon that can get rid of the excess skin from the tags shrinking down...I'd be thrilled about that, even though it's not seen to the world it's been painful physically and embarrassing emotionally to me when being intimate with hubby (even though he doesn't care at all about them it's always made me feel very self-conscience so I'd love for those to shrink away too.

He said they can set it up to have a nurse come to my house to give me the injections, or my hubby can give them to me or I can administer them myself too.

I really wish they could help you with yours Eva, I can't imagine how horrible it's been for you after this long and still having to deal with them being there. Hopefully this surgeon appointment will bring better news for you...fingers are crossed!
