Hey everyone,
Well since my last post... my bleeding has returned. Its been about
4 days with it back.
I've been tired and exhausted and easily dizzified... oih!
So I went in to my pharmacy two nights ago and asked them to fill my Lialda script
from July that I never filled because it was $700+ even w my old crappy insurance...
...and they did.
...and it was $20!!!
And with the Lialda prescript
ion savings card it was $10.
I'm pretty sure I got a little teary eyed when she said the price.
(Thanks nssg for the script
card suggestion!)
So I started 4 pills 3 nights ago. Also off pred for these 2 days as well.
Seems frequency has cut in half... maybe 3 times in the morning and 1 time throughout the day/evening then 3 times at night.
Previously when I was on Lialda it started working within 24 hrs. I was diagnosed and on pred for a week with no changes. Then lialda for a day and on my way to remission!
when I ran out of samples it only took a day or two to be even worse than I started and by the time I got back on Lialda I seemed too far gone.
Hoping the Lialda will kick some butt again!
You think it will? Or am I wishfully thinking too hard?
Also urgency seems to have lightened up (except for when I pretty much woke up pooping yesterday morning.. thank god for diapers!) And I get weird grumbles and some nausea when I have to go. But probably 3 minutes before im poopin my pants.
Still lots of painful gas. Makes falling asleep VERY difficult.
Headaches, body aches, and muscle soreness. My arms feel like I lifted weights last night... but I most certainly did not :D
Thanks for all your support guys!

Hey, it sounds like you're seeing some improvement, that's awesome!!! I am happy you were able to get your script
for $10, isn't that the best? I just went to get mine refilled and it was $10 again even though I already picked it up once this month. I thought they wouldn't be able to run the coupon twice in a month... I don't think you're wishfully thinking, there is a good chance you will get some relief. You've been really under treated and probably treating with the wrong drugs for quite some time. This might be just what you need to get back on track. I have that awful gassiness too, especially when I first wake up. The first trip to the bathroom sounds like something is deflating.

That's great. It took a solid week on lialda for me to see any improvement!

Just to clarify....you weren't on any oral mesalamine at all, and you're now finished with the Pred?
Back on Lialda?
Please request rectal meds as well.
I sure hope you start to feel better soon, for you do need the break!
How are your hemmies?

Q; I was on lialda 4.8 july-august with improvement... not full remission. Prednisone at 20.
Begin of October I was out of samples and could not get more and everything went downhill. Got samples again after 4 days... but it was too late... flare was worse and after two weeks back on Lialda saw no improvement. Fired my Colorectal Surgeon and joined HealingWell.
Its all kind of a big poopy blur. Diarrhea 10+ x a day, blood, mucous.
December - mid I think- got on Balsalazide. (Cheapest out of pocket medicine) 9pills a day. Bleeding stopped! First time blood free since June 23rd (my one year anniversary. )
Balsalzide didnt help other symptoms though. Was nice not being anemic anymore though! Got my energy back most days. Depression improved.
Id say it worked for about
5 weeks before things started getting worse again.
gas pains and mucous getting worse. Then about
a week ago I saw blood again.
okay I hope that helps with Dates... unless you were talking about
the food... then yes... dates are good :D
Well it seems the bleeding is WAY less... like I had to search for it. Hemmies are good! Two guys just hanging out... wish they would shrink but im just glad they dont hurt anymore!
As for urgency... I crap my pants twice today. Not too happy about
that...

So glad to hear your bleeding has stopped and you have awesome insurance. What mg. prednisone are you on? Are you stopping cold turkey?

OOPS! I was being overly optimistic. How about
I'm so glad you have meds that WILL stop your bleeding.

I tapered pred weekly by 10 then 5. I stayed on 5 for a week and then stopped. I think the day before I got my lialda.
Def feeling weird/bad today. The two accidents were rough.
Just going to take it easy for the next week and hopefully see some improvement.
If after the week im still the same I think it will be time to start calling someone... everyone... anyone!
but im optimistic! :)

Rectal meds Katie, get on the mesalamine rectals asap in my opinion.
Although they haven't helped me but they usually help most people especially with the urgency issue.

So they stopped the prednidone while you were still bleeding and having urgency? Or am I missing something from being gone. I kind of wish I was tapering that fast...but its going to be flow even just from 20....and they wouldn't do it until I was mostly not bleeding and down to 2 bm. a day. And this is a guycdtingy on the Meds if you recall lol
Though reading how fast liakda worked for you I'm a bit worried. I had no change with it until a few weeks after I started prednisone. Man I hope that doesn't mean I'll be stuck on pred. 3 days on 15mg 11 to go...
I really hope it works fast for you again....
