Perhaps I am overly paranoid, but I am reluctant to provide too much information that may identify me for fear that a potential future employer would be able to connect the dots and decide they don't want to hire a UC sufferer. Illegal though it is, I have no doubt it can occur. A degree of anonymity suits me in this instance. Conversely I still enjoy knowing where everyone else is . . . adds a sense of community.

However, I'm in the U.S.

If a company went to those unethical lengths to eliminate all "sick" people from their pool, you wouldn't want to work there anyway. I can't imagine what that kind of business culture would be like.

I do understand your point. I am viewing a more narrow set of circumstances than an employer attempting to weed out the sick. If an employer is looking at two equally qualified candidates, and they learn that one of the candidates will likely incur more health care costs than the other, it's possible (however slimy we consider it) they will choose the more "healthy" one.
