Cholesterol -> Coenzyme q10 and vitamin D precursors, among many other things like serotonin in the gut. If you're cutting back on it as per the medical dogma, you are at risk for a plethora of deficiencies across the board. The recommended intake of egg yolks should be, at the very least, 3 daily to preserve cell integrity (also suggested by Shou-Ching Jaminet, PhD). This is assuming that the patient eats a diet rich in saturated and monounsaturated fats in the first place for butyrate, anti-viral agents and fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K/K2.
It is also worth mentioning that mortality and suicide risk increase as serum cholesterol decreases, as does brain function. Cholesterol correlates well to longetivity in women. Please refer to the Framingham study, an ongoing cohort study, on why cholesterol is important. It's showing that those who have higher cholesterol (high HDL and low LDL-A), are living longer than those who don't (LDL-B).
It still amazes me that people believe the cholesterol myth, when the opposite is true - refined carbs, grains and industrial oils rich in o6 like canola, soy, cottonseed are doing the real harm. I seriously want to punch a baby every single time someone without heart disease gets put on a statin drug (refer to theNNT.com for statin efficacy) .They keep lowering the cholesterol requirements so that EVERYONE can take the drug.
But I digress, the best whey protein options are:
1)
Immunopro Whey (suggested by PK in another thread.
2) Mercola whey as InSoFla recommended
3)
Tera's Goat WheyThe criterion for a good whey protein is that it has to come from cows that are 1) grassfed 2) undenatured and unheated (get raw milk if you can) 3) no additional hormones or antibiotics administered. The New Zealand brands do it correctly, but finding good ones in America is pretty darn tricky. Concentrate is fine, if not better in some respects, if you have no lactose issues.
