Is anyone taking methotrexate for UC? It is part of a research study that I've been asked to participate. Anyone been involved?

I did a mtx drug trial last year. Unfortunately it did not work for me and I dropped out of the study.

I've heard it's pretty unlikely to help with UC but my GI did offer it to me when I was flaring a few years ago. What other medications have you tried?

My GI didn't recommended it for UC. She said it wasn't effective.

I have a prescript
ion but I never took it. Apparently the injectable is more effective than the oral form. I'm scared of needles..

I inject it along with Humira weekly. I have not noticed any improvement. I had no problems with it though

Tried: Remicade 10mg/k 8 wks. stopped working after about
four years; Asacol HD 800 3 / day; Rowasa, Canasa, prednisone 20 mg daily
Past drugs: cipro, flagyl
In flare up right now, nothing seem to be working. MTX is a hopeful...

You really should get off that daily prednisone. That stuff is bad news.
Have you tried Humira?

I took weekly injections. No effects, good or bad.

I use to take it! It seemed to work for a while but eventually it didn't hold up. Like others have said, many times it isn't effective or effective enough
