girls_ has anyone used primolut

I have been advised to use primolut for heavy periods but am worried if it may have the same effect on me as the pill. Has anyone else used this and did you have any concerning side effects?

I have never heard if it. Is tarted a daily minipill a few years ago and I do not get a period at all. I love it. I can barely remember that awful thing haha.

I am just a bit concerned about a risk with blood clots, so was wondering if anyone else may have heard of this. It is a synthetic progesterone which lessens bleeding and cramps. I will be using it for bleeding. I will take the risk as i have no other options.

I think the risk of blood clots is increased from estrogen. I take no-estrogen pills . Is this a birth control pill?

No its not a birth control pill. I was advised to take it from day 19 of my cycle fir 7 days only. This is repeated each month. It reduces the lining of the uterus and therefore less bleeding. I know that some women use it to prevent periods eg for holiday or other event but then it is taken continuously for that period of time.

I think it would be fine to take and not increase risk of blood clots. I was just at my ob/gyn recently with similar concerns. I am on a low dose bc and am concerned about blood clots. I also am compound heterogeneous for MTHFR. She is sending me to a hematologist for further testing. However she did mention that a progesterone pill may be an option for me if I have clotting issues. I need to control bleeding as well and need to be on something.

Question to anyone: Would it be wise for people under 35, without any personal history of strokes or blood clots, still take estrogen BCP?

Sibby, I was taking it without issue but I don't see a point in it if you can take a minipill and not worry about the risk.
