My doc just called me and told me I'm positive for cdiff.

That's great because it gives me something to treat. The weird thing is that I was tested for it 3 times this month. about a ago I gave a sample to the doc myself which came out negative... Two weeks ago my doc collected a sample when he did a scope, and last week while I was at the hospital they collected a sample (that they let sit there for a good 8 hours before collecting), and the one my doc did with the scope is the only one that's positive.

Can that happen? I guess the one the hospital did sitting there for 8 hours it's not surprising that it's probably no good, but a month ago it should have been positive I think.

Anyway I'm starting antibiotics for it today, hopefully this starts finally helping me!!

C. diff toxin degrades in a stool sample in less than two hours. It's totally unsurprising to me that you tested negative under those circumstances.

Good luck and I hope the antibiotics help you. I started vanco and probiotics two weeks ago and I feel like a new person.

I noticed a difference after the first day, but it wasn't dramatic. I'd say it took about 3-4 days after that to start feeling really good.

C-Diff tests can have false negatives. The correct way to test, which most don't do, is to test 3 different times with 3 different stool samples and they do need to be tested as fast as possible.

I did a cdiff test on a wed and it showed negative. Went in the hospital 2 days later and tested positive? I was told the test is erratic. I been on Vanco about 3 weeks. I saw improvement in a few days. Way less blood and less frequency.

Basically the same as UC. Horrible urgency, loose/watery stool, going to bathroom 20+ times a day. In fact after I got rid of my C-Diff I didn't believe it was gone because I still had the same exact symptoms. (I think I must have gotten UC while I had C-Diff)

Now that I think about it, I think the urgency was much worse when I had cdiff though.

The good thing was that for me, I felt perfect once I started medication (Vanco and Dificid). I had to get an FMT to finally kill it, but the medicine got rid of all my symptoms.

i've been on Vanco since Friday night... the first morning after starting I noticed a difference... then had about the same suckiness for the following 24 hours. today though I felt almost human!!

For me the big thing is the pain relief. No random pains from bending over or reaching out for something. Tenesmus is not White Knuckle anymore either! And frequency was way down today!

Feeling pretty bloated tonight. But evenings/nights are always my bad time :/

Hope the Vanco is helping UCHater!! I have no clue how long I had c.diff before getting dx but I'd say probably 2-3 MONTHS. So glad to see a light at the end of the tunnel!!
