Can anyone shed some information on the symptoms of the right sided colitis and caecitis?

I have been noticing blood in the stool since I stopped Pred on 5th Jan'14. I had the sigmoidoscopy(till 60cm) done day before yesterday and it revealed the mucosa layer of the rectum is eroded(but no ulcerations) and the mild redness(but no ulcerations) in the sigmoid mucosa layer. My doctor said its ok, nothing to worry about it.
I was concerned and asked where is the blood coming from? My doctor said may be beyond 60cm there could be something going on and he suggested for the stool test to measure the calprotectin and if he finds it elevated then he will order for colonoscopy confused

So I wanted to get an idea of the symptoms of the right sided colitis and caecitis w.r.t stool appearance, blood, spasming. The reason is, this is where the roaring, rumbling and bubbling is happening especially in the caecum.

Oh yeah, I asked about the redness around the sigmoid, the doctor said its due to the recovery from the inflammation I had in the month of Oct'13 to Nov'13. Any idea on this redness?

A sigmoidoscopy is only useful if you are sure that your disease is limited to the rectum and sigmoid colon. A fecal calprotectin test is a good idea to see if there is inflammation still present, although since your scope showed redness and some ulcerations, it seems like you would already test positive.

I would just go ahead and schedule the full scope.

Sarav my situation is the same, rectum eroded, sigmoid mild uc, and the biggest ulceration on 60 cm, no right sided and cecum ulcerations...And blood was coming from descending colon...Does your GI ever mentioned it could be Crohn, because rectum is in good condition? And where did your first flare started, on rectum, or ?

luna89, My GI still thinks I have got UC. He thinks so because the patches were continuous.
The rectum was severely inflamed when I flared for the first time(Oct'12). And because of the delay in diagnosis it spread up till descending.
So you have Crohns?

I had 4 colonoscopy, and 2 doctors, and 2 biopsy, never discussed it could be crohn, even from the first time my rectum was in good condition, only erosions.. But after reading what are people writing on this forum I suspected is it possible that my GI is wrong?
