does anyone else really dislike the applicator for cortifoam? I hate that it's one reuseable thing, I wish it was just a prefilled amount that was in a lubricated tube and it came in a month quantity.

It doesn't bother me. But I agree would be much easier if was a pre filled thing. It is my go to rectal med! Except my insurance has decided it will only pay a teeny part of it.

Yup, I can't stand it either. I just started using it again to help out while the remicade does its job. Is anyone else on both remicade and cortifoam?

I did cortifoam while on remicade last year. Unfortunately I didn't have any luck w/ remicade.

Yes, and sometimes the end is really sharp on it but the med itself is great (IMO based on my experiences with it)...you can use some ky jelly after you've cleaned it and before you use it again to help with the ease of administering it.

Yes, the end is rigid plastic. I wish it was silicone or smooth plastic. I seriously feel like i will cut my anus on the applicator.

Yeah, it's annoying. I never bothered with any other rectals but for Cortifoam I always, always used lubricant.

So glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I know that for a LOT of people, it's preferable to have the reusable applicator because it makes it easier to pick up a month's supply from the pharmacy. But the applicator was definitely too sharp and rigid; I sometimes had bleeding FROM the applicator.

I would turn the sink on hot before I took a dose and throw it in afterwards, but I never felt like it got that clean.

At some point in time the applicator got changed for the worse. I recall several members posted complaints that it was scratchy, maybe in 2008 (?) It was smooth-tipped when I started using it in 1980s, and came packaged in a very neat small plastic case that was soooooooo discreet to pick up at the pharmacy, compared to huge bulky Rowasas! (LOL) But one always needed to lube the applicator ... not a big deal for me 'cause I had already found Cortenema or Rowasa bottles lacking sufficient lube so kept a tube of sterile jelly on hand. / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I found the easiest way to insert was to put ample amounts of cream (any of those medicated skin creams, antiseptic cream, etc.) on the end of it and on the tube.. otherwise that plastic is a pain literally.

The applicator was painful, and I found it didn't help anything but my hemmies. Now I just use the hydrocortisone suppositories. A lot easier and more effective for me.

I don't like that you use the same one over and over. I have to lube it after it was in my butt. I wash it but i don't know how clean it can get :(

I have a hemmie on the edge of my anus that really hates that plastic applicator.

I can't believe they changed from a smooth applicator to this rigid thing. this company must be evil to do this to us. I am using the supps too but my GI said most of her patients find the foam to help most with urgency and my main issue is urgency.
