Can tiny amounts of steroid have side effects?

I am only taking Uceris plus I had three big steroid shots in my shoulder on Friday. For the last 2-3 days, I have nausea, gut pain and the worst- I am, very uncharacteristically, weepy.

I know people on this board have a lot of experience taking steroids and since my GI hates them, this is the first time I have been on them longer than 7 days. Any thoughts?

Let's put it this way: I have type II diabetes induced by steroids. Using a hydrocortisone suppository will raise my blood glucose level by 10-15 points. Not everyone is equally sensitive to steroids, but for me it doesn't take much to get a response.

The only steroid I've ever taken are of the budesonide variety, such as the Uceris you mentioned and Entocort. Uceris didn't help my UC, while Entocort did. However, here are the side effects I noticed from both:

1) Skin medication eruptions on legs and upper arms (sorta like hives)
2) Ear pressure popping in inner ear
3) Insomnia
4) Infection of a very small cut on my index finger
5) Change in mood (this went away while still taking Uceris, so was short-lived)

I stopped the Uceris after two weeks; three weeks later I tried Entocort and ended its use after three days. I just can't handle the stuff.
