Find a UC Cure Project

Here's a hypothetical,

What if we and numerous others were able to donate money to a fund. At any point, those who donated money could choose to be reimbursed (unless of course the cure is developed), and withrdraw their donation. If someone were to devleop a cure for ulcerative colitis, that individual/group of individuals would be rewarded with the money.

So yes, this is all just a monetary incentive to developing a cure. IBDers around the world could raise quite a lot of money for this, and you're wrong if you think this wouldn't motivate scientists. 

This is not to suggest that there isn't research being done to cure IBD. But as in any area, a whole lot more could be done with proper funding/motivation/interest etc.

I agree with you there. However, the cure I'm referring to would be a universal one. Anything else wouldn't be sufficient to reap the reward. And though a universal cure may be unattainable, we won't know this until we exhaust all efforts.

You definitely have a point there, CB. It would be nice to find a cure for UC.

You got that right, Gary or pretend it never existed like a possible cancer "cure" that the govs don't want to share with us because we all know sickness and death brings the big bucks. ;)

chicagobulls11 that's somewhat similar to what I think we should do. I would like to Crowd Fund/Kickstart a group of CD and/or UC patients. If a universal cure is found by an individual or entity, those in that group would be under contractual obligation to make $100 or whatever payments for life that can be adjusted for inflation or deflation to that entity or individual. People who were diagnosed with UC or CD after the cure is found could sign up under the same contractual agreements.

I just think a good subset of us would spring for that and it would motivate groups to go after a large pile of guaranteed streaming incoming for years to come and get them looking at causative factors not just repairing the effects of the disease(s).
