Biome Restoration are open for orders of Hymenolepsis Diminuta Cysticercoids (HDC) in the UK. It's helminthic therapy - rat tapeworm apparently:

Does anyone want to give it a go and tell me how they get on?! I agree with the principle of an overactive immune system and attempts to reset the system but Faecal Microbiota Transplantation sounds more promising to me.

Even though there have been a small handful of successes with this therapy I just can't get myself to wrap around the idea that the cure for us is to introduce foreign living tapeworms, or other things which shouldn't be in our systems, as a treatment for UC.

That's what I thought. It seems odd to restore a healthy biome with a rat tapeworm that doesn't naturally live in a human gut. But if the evidence was there and there were no lasting side effects I'd be first in the queue!

Hymenolepis Diminuta (HD) is a rat tapeworm whose larvae (cysticercoids) have shown benefit for colitis in some animal models,45 while appearing to exacerbate induced colitis in other animal models.46 As of this writing, it is available through a company in the United States for an as yet undisclosed price.47

and I don't like the word "exacerbate" too much....though I do find this very interesting, and I did read An Epidemic of Absence which I would highly recommend
