so after 15 days in the hospital, I asked to come home. The last few days the nurses were barely checking up on me, hadn't had a fever in days, they were kind of letting me do my own thing. Thankfully my guts stopped hating me so much and are no co-operating with me, no accidents in over a week and the most normal bowel movements I've had in a LONG time. So I'm on prednisone 40mg for 14 days, then I go down by 5 mg as each week passes, then I can get off them and by then hopefully the Imuran will have kicked in. They told me no more asacol as it wasn't having an effect on me anymore (probably due to being on it for so many years) and the hospital can give me up to a month supply of the Imuran which I am SO thankful for. That stuff isn't cheap! I did pay for the prednisone at the pharmacy but it was only about 30 bucks including the vitamin D my GI asked me to pick up and start taking. So now its all about figuring out how to get benefits, because my job said I "quit" *rolls eyes* which I didn't. So I'm going to fight that for sure, and am thinking of giving the labour board a call too.
