I posted on another thread about
tattoo's once but I'll put it on here as well. It's perfectly fine and many people do get them. about
the only risk would be infection due to improper sterilization of equipment. So find a place that not only uses, but maintains an autoclave and records. Take a moment and review this
thrivestudios.ca/studio.htm This is a friend of mine's tattoo place where he explains about
sterilization and such about
halfway down.
Being on an immune suppressant would impact your ability to fight infection should one occur. So this is the risk and the reason to find an appropriate place.

What a tattoo really is: From the science side of things.
Not many know this as we think of tattoos being ink permanently staining or colouring our skin. In fact what happens is the ink is injected into our skin and this generates an immune response via what is known as resident macrophages. Ink is "foreign" or a non-self molecule, so these guys come and gobble it up... So if you were to look at your skin or tattoo'd area under a high powered microscope and sort of super zoom in, what you will in fact see is a whole bunch of these machrophges (that are very long living) with little molecular particles of tattoo ink inside them.
Hope this explains a little. It's pretty cool actually and not much different than many medical imaging techniques really - think of it as old school medical imaging.
Today things like arthritis are imaged via the same way with using folate as particular marophages have special receptors for this.
I'd get one.. a tattoo... but I'm always afraid I'd change my mind down the road and what something else. So I think I'd opt more for a temporary version.
