Yes, shakes and smoothies can be full of nutrition and calories. Stay away from a lot of fiber which can aggravate an inflamed colon. Make homemade chicken soup with well cooked carrots (a few) and make extra broth for later in the week.
Add coconut oil to whatever you can (smoothies, low fiber cooked veggies) for healthy calories. Olive oil is good too, how about pesto with olive oil and pasta (I am gluten-free but perhaps you aren't). No whole wheat anything though because that has the most fiber.
My gut never had any problem with meat so high fat meat like NY strips and other similar cuts could help you. Did you know that meat has almost all the vitamins we need?
Keep eating foods that keep your energy up and do not aggravate your colon. All food is not bad.
Veggie juices do not add many calories but they really helped my recovery. Because there are no fresh veggie juice vendors near me I bought a juicer to make my own and still do it at least once a week.
