The way you asked the question the answer is yes. Ten different doctors prescribe prednisone ten different ways. Obviously the schedule you were on before didn't work so you would need a different schedule. Getting prescribed the exact same dosages and tapering schedule probably isn't going to do any different than it did the first time. Some people don't respond to pred at all and if that is the case going on it again would probably be pointless. My personal opinion is that if pred works at all you need to take it at a high enough dose and don't taper at all until you are actually in remission and then start tapering. Too many doctors have you tapering too quickly before you are even in remission. As I said before, the tapering schedule would be different for different doctors. If you never attain remission at all with prednisone after about 4 weeks at full dose then it will probably never put you into remission and you might as well get off as quickly as possible and go to plan B. If you do achieve remission then there are dozens of different ways to taper down.
