Ill tell ya , i read thru all this and I agree to some extent , on the starch..... BUT.. all the testing im doing on my self 2 years now, I had ulcer colitis and crohns two years ago, I dont think its for everyone.
Heres why and my take.. we are all different , and different things cause us to have colitis or crohns. For me , a diet LOW on starch --I eat tons of low starch veggies.. meats fish chicken , fats (good fats ) healed me so far.. in all of my testing ive done on my self and studies ive read , good bacteria eats the starch ,, the problem most of us ( not all) have balances way out of wack bacteria and yeast.. (docs dont look at yeast) I did, and found YEAST ate everything from grains, to starches to fruits. For me I found starch to not help. SO far.. many of the drugs we take... I see as adding to other problems (yeast) as they get them growing out of control -- immune sup presents , steroids.....which dont help, the battle we face. Ive spents thousands on bacteria tests , food intolerances tests , yeast tests. As the two years have gone along ... the yeast has lowered and the my bacteria levels have risen. for me I have a majority of Bacteroidetes and a good amount of Verrucomicrobia (Akkermansia 13.2%) google this bacteria its a MUCUS killer /eater and the higher you number the better gut barrier you have.. google (Akkermansia ) it will surprise you.. my diet is paleo/ low carb mix.. very little fruits or starch at that... Heavy in any low starch veggie i can get my hands on.. as well ONIONS LEEKS, ASPARAGUS and garlic feed the Akkermansia..... which I eat alot of... to me this is the first movement in change... the second lower your yeast levels... when you do this they wont eat the starch.. my american gut results were
Genus Bacteroides 37.3% Genus Serratia 3.8% 0.19% 20x
Genus Parabacteroides 20.1% Family 0319-6G20 0.1% 0.00% 43x
Genus Akkermansia 13.2% Genus Bilophila 0.6% 0.17% 4x
Genus Serratia 3.8% Family Alteromonadaceae 0.0% 0.00% 10x
Your sample contained the following rare taxa: Genus Leptotrichia, Genus Ochrobactrum,
Unclassified Family 0319-6G20, Genus Chelonobacter, Genus Treponema
I have had ZERO stomach issues or bowel issues in 2 years ... I am also tracking my yeast levels which no one does or this studies fail to look at also.. they do the RNA16 scan of bacteria.... but not the RNA18 scan of fungus/yeast which also play a role.
I hope to get some of my other levels up...(bacteria) that eat starch(firmicutes) before I add it in to see what happens to me.. but Im not so sure im buying the starch thing just yet... As Im in great health right now best of my life and NO inflammation---now no headches, nasal drip, sinus problems ,,no hemorrhoids or mucus coming out... ( the more firmicutes you have , you generally have more inflammation) for me Im on the lower side... firmicutes
To me if you were some what healthly, no stomach problems and almost ZERO antibiotic use / or steroids / immune suppressant drugs - I would say YEAH i bet the good bacteria EAT it... but im sure all the bad strains and yeast chomp it up... in our cases..first. why I dont think its so good
Just my thought and what Ive seen in my body and testing / results in the end --- starting two years ago , I had low good bacteria in general... the bad were in control.. at the same time I had high yeast..
which I say help chomp down and mess up my lining.. allowing all those nasty bacteria in.. giving me problems then food intolerance... I point to the Verrucomicrobia (Akkermansia) bringing me back.. while lowering the YEASt.. This gave me the gound to grow and fix my other bad bacteria ....
